The President of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters, Hans Petter Graver announced Karen Uhlenbeck as the winner of the 2019 Abel Prize. Hans Munthe-Kaas, chair of the Abel committee, gave the reasons for the awarding of the prize. The popular science presentation of the prize winner's work was given by Jim Al-Khalili - a British physicist, author and broadcaster.
