The Abel Laureate Yakov Sinai gave his prize lecture at the University of Oslo, followed by two Abel Lectures by Gregory Margulis and Konstantin Khanin. Domokos Szász gave the Popular science lecture on Mathematical billiards and chaos.

Yakov Sinai is interviewed by the two mathematicians Martin Raussen og Christian Skau

On the occasion of the awarding of the Abel Prize, The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters and its Abel Board invited to an Abel film night at Kino Victoria with two films, Colors of Math and How I came to hate maths, both starring Cédric Villani from the Abel Committee. Villani gave an introductiontalk before each film.

The Abel Laureate will honour Niels Henrik Abel by laying down a wreath at the Abel Monument. Helge Holden, chair of the Abel board, will give a speech. Music. The event is open to the public.
