Yakov G. Sinai

Princeton University, USA, and Landau Institute for Theoretical Physics, Russian Academy of Sciences

“for his fundamental contributions to dynamical systems, ergodic theory, and mathematical physics”

The Abel Lectures and Science Lecture

The Abel Laureate Yakov Sinai gave his prize lecture at the University of Oslo, followed by two Abel Lectures by Gregory Margulis and Konstantin Khanin. Domokos Szász gave the Popular science lecture on Mathematical billiards and chaos.

Abel filmnight at Kino Victoria

On the occasion of the awarding of the Abel Prize, The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters and its Abel Board invited to an Abel film night at Kino Victoria with two films, Colors of Math and How I came to hate maths, both starring Cédric Villani from the Abel Committee. Villani gave an introductiontalk before each film.

The Abel Laureate  will honour Niels Henrik Abel by laying down a wreath at the Abel Monument. Helge Holden, chair of the Abel board, will give a speech. Music. The event is open to the public.
